Costco is selling a 40 ounce bottle of Robert Rothschild Roasted Pineapple and Habanero sauce and I am glad I snagged a bottle! This is a seasonal item and I missed my chance to get some last year.
This sauce, which is listed as a “Finishing Sauce and Glaze” is pretty tasty and I will be heading back to Costco soon to stock up on a few more bottles.
This sauce is a “Glaze and Finishing Sauce”. What that really means is that there is a LOT of sugar in the sauce and you should put it on foods after they have finished cooking. If you put the sauce on foods while it is cooking the sugars might burn and get bitter.
Taste Test!
Pineapple Habanero sauce tastes sweet, tangy and tropical. The primary flavors are pineapples and mangos followed by a little bit of spiciness from the habanero peppers.
The sauce has a medium consistency and is great with chicken, pork, or shrimp. The sauce also works extremely well as a dip for spring rolls and poured over cream cheese and served with crackers. What is interesting is that, despite the difference in flavor profile, this sauce can be used in almost every application where you would use the Raspberry Chipotle Sauce from Fisher and Weiser.
Yesterday I poured the sauce over a rotisserie chicken sandwich on a Costco Artisan Roll. The sauce brought a ton of flavor to the otherwise bland chicken. The label indicates a spiciness level on the high side of Mild and I would call that just about right.
This sauce would be the perfect solution to liven up a tray of Costco’s Roasted Chicken and Swiss Rollers.

Price at Costco
This sauce is Item Number 1049970 and is found in the unrefrigerated section with the other sauces like Kinder’s Teriyaki.
The sauce comes in a 40 ounce bottle and costs $9.49 or $0.237 per ounce.
Overall I consider this a fair price even though it is mostly sugar. The flavors are great and super versatile and I enjoy having the sauce around to provide that extra flavor burst for chicken and veggies.
