On the Positive Side
- Single pack serving size is very convenient.
- Flavor is acceptable
- Organic
- Great Value
On the Negative Side
- Takes up a lot of room in the refrigerator.
- Nothing special about the flavor.
- Quantity is overwhelming for small households.
Overall Review
The single packs of Kirkland hummus are perfectly acceptable and a great bargain, especially considering that they are completely organic.
The 20 pack size is great for larger households that can go through them quickly but was a little overwhelming for our household of two people.
Taste Test
I think these little cups of hummus are great!
The 2.5 ounce cups are the perfect size for a quick afternoon snack. I use ribs of celery to dip the hummus from the cups and I end up using three ribs per cup. The creaminess of the hummus pairs great with the crunch from the celery and they combine to make a very filling snack.
You could easily throw one of these cups into a lunch box along with some baby carrots or pita bread so you would have a fun treat to look forward to.
From a flavor standpoint this is a basic hummus recipe with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, etc. You could dress this up with an extra squeeze of lemon juice, a dusting of smoked paprika or even a swirl of Green Dragon Hot Sauce.

Overall this is a well balanced food that is a little high in calories.
I am watching my weight and counting calories these days so the 170 calories per serving had me concerned at first. What I finally figured out is that I get satisfied after eating about two thirds of the cup and I do not have to eat the whole thing if I don’t want to!

Serving Ideas
You get 20 single serve packs in the box and eventually we got tired of eating the hummus as a plain dip. It turns out that hummus is quite versatile and can be served in a variety of interesting ways. Here are some suggestions:
Pinwheels: Spread a layer of hummus on a whole wheat wrap, add an array of colorful vegetables (like bell peppers, spinach, cucumbers, and carrots), roll it up, and then slice it into pinwheels.
Stuffed Peppers: Choose mini bell peppers, slice them in half lengthwise, remove the seeds, and fill with hummus. Top with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of smoked paprika for an additional flavor boost.
Mashed Potatoes: Mix hummus into your mashed potatoes for a creamy, flavorful twist.
Avocado Toast: Slather hummus on a slice of toast and top with avocado slices, a squeeze of lemon, and a sprinkle of sea salt. You could also add a fried or poached egg on top.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich: Substitute hummus for the traditional cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich. Add some roasted vegetables for extra flavor and nutrition.
Pizza: Use hummus as the base spread on a pizza crust. Top with your favorite vegetables and bake.
Pasta: Toss cooked pasta in a generous scoop of hummus and a bit of pasta water. Add roasted vegetables, cherry tomatoes, or some fresh arugula.
Deviled Eggs: Use hummus in place of mayonnaise for a healthier take on deviled eggs.
Quesadilla: Spread hummus on a tortilla, add a sprinkle of cheese, some sautéed onions and bell peppers, and grill.
Item Number and Location
The single serve hummus packs are Item Number 1280819.
The hummus needs to be kept cold and is kept in the refrigerated coolers near the deli and meat section of the warehouse. The hummus does not appear to be a seasonal item so if you can’t find it at your warehouse then they are temporarily sold out and you will probably be able to find it on your next visit.
Price
I bought the 20 pack at Costco for $6.99 which works out to a cost of $0.35 per serving.
You can buy a six pack of single serve Sabra hummus at Target for $5.69 which works out to a cost of $0.95 per serving.
This means that you will save $0.60 per serving (63%) when you buy your hummus at Costco.
