Le Chic Patissier Belgian Waffles at Costco {How to Heat and Eat with Nutritional Information}

My local Costco is selling individually wrapped Belgian waffles from Le Chic Patissier in an eight pack container.  I am not a huge waffle fan but decided to give these a try.  After all, if you don’t try new things every now and then it is easy to get stuck in a rut!

After trying these waffles I am still not a fan but that is just because of personal tastes and does not reflect the quality of this product.

Heating Instructions

These waffles are from Le Chic Patissier, the same brand the makes the stroopwaffles Costco sells and are actually made in Belgium. The waffles come with instructions for three different ways of heating.

  • Microwave
  • Oven
  • Don’t

Let’s start with the last method first!

The package says that the waffles are fully baked and ready to enjoy so no heating is required prior to eating them.

If you prefer to eat them warm instead of cold then the package says to heat them in a microwave for 15 seconds or in an oven pre-heated to 325F for 5 minutes.

Belgian waffles can be enjoyed plain or you can use the deep cavities of the waffle as a canvas for a variety of toppings.

Some of the more popular toppings for Belgian waffles that I have seen include:

  • Ice cream
  • Fruit (bananas, strawberries)
  • Whipped cream
  • Powdered sugar
  • Nutella

If you have these guys loaded with toppings then you are going to want to use a knife and fork.  I had mine plain and at it like a grab and go snack in one hand with a steaming hot cup of coffee in my other hand.

Calories and Nutrition

There are eight waffles per package a one waffle is a single serving.  The calories and nutrition for a single waffle are:

  • Calories: 410
  • Fat: 21g (27% DV)
  • Cholesterol: 75mg (25% DV)
  • Sodium: 350mg (15% DV)
  • Carbohydrates: 48g (17% DV)
  • Protein: 5g

The waffles are high in calories, fat, cholesterol and carbs.  From a nutritional standpoint these waffles are pretty much junk food.

When you look at the ingredient list the nutritional content makes sense as the first three ingredients for these waffles are:

  • Wheat flour
  • Butter
  • Sugar

Taste Test!

The Belgian waffles are incredibly rich and sweet.

The package says that the waffles are made with a “Butter Recipe” and let me tell you, the label is accurate!  It tastes like they mixed equal portions of flour, butter and sugar then threw in an egg and baked the things.

There is so much sugar in the waffles that there are actual crystals of sugar on the edges that give an extra crunch factor.

From everything I have read about Belgian waffles the richness and sweetness is what you should expect so from that angle I should say that the waffles are spot on.

From a personal standpoint these were way too sweet and rich for me and are something that my overweight body has no business eating.

  1. I LOVE these waffles! I like to warm it in the oven for a few minutes. No microwave for me, so I don’t know how that would work. I like them covered in blueberries or with ice cream or just plain with nothing on top.
