Trader Joe’s has their own brand of Sriracha sauce and I had to give it a try!
I really enjoy the regular “Red Rooster” brand of Sriracha but I am always open to giving the Trader Joe’s branded products a try.
Ingredients
The sriracha from Trader Joe’s contains:
- Red Jalapeno Peppers
- Red Anaheim Peppers
- Water
- Sugar
- Garlic
- Salt
- Vinegar
- Citric Acid
The combination of red jalapenos and Anaheim peppers give the sauce a beautiful color while not being overly spicy. The remaining ingredients of salt, garlic, sugar and vinegar are exactly what I expect to see in a sriracha.
There is not a ton of vinegar in the sauce which means it has a low acid content and must be refrigerated after opening.
Calories and Nutrition
From a caloric standpoint there is not a lot going on with the sauce. A serving size is defined as 1 tsp and has the following nutritional information:

- Sodium: 75mg (3% DV)
- Carbohydrates: 1g

Taste
Trader Joe’s version of this sauce tastes just about identical to the brand made famous by Huy Fong Foods.
The sauce has the classic mix of pleasant heat from the jalapenos married with the gentle pungency of garlic and vinegar. On a spiciness scale of 1-10 I will give the sauce a 6.
One of my favorite ways to use this sauce is to give a flavorful, spicy kick to healthy stir fries.
I was able to toss a bag of Tattooed Chef’s Cauliflower Stir Fry along with some cooked shrimp, a tablespoon of sriracha and the juice of a lime to create a super healthy, incredibly flavorful dinner in under 10 minutes.
The sauce would also be great when mixed with some butter and honey then used to baste some fried chicken wings.
Where to Find the Sriracha in the Store
My Trader Joe’s keeps this sauce near the Green Dragon Hot Sauce and branded barbecue sauces.
The sauce currently costs $3.49 for an 18.25 ounce bottle. The Trader Joe’s sauce is priced at a premium to the Huy Fong sauce when you buy it at Walmart but is still quite reasonable.
Overall the sriracha is a solid sauce that I would buy again. The Trader Joe’s version doesn’t stand out much from the Huy Fong version but that is not a bad thing.
