I was checking out the back end of the Costco warehouse the other day and saw that had a new product in their sparkling water section, Spindrift Sparkling Water with real pineapple juice.
I liked the idea of a sparkling water with real fruit juice instead of nameless flavoring agents so I bought the case and gave this stuff a try.
What is in the Sparkling Water?
The pineapple flavored water contains 8% pineapple juice and a little citric acid along with the carbonated water. The fact that the water uses real juice means that it comes with 15 calories and 4 grams of carbohydrates per can.
In contrast, the artificially flavored Kirkland Sparkling Water has zero calories.
There is no added sugar in the water and it is Non-GMO certified.
Taste
The water is honestly labeled as it tastes exactly like you would expect from a pineapple infused sparkling water. I enjoy the drink poured over ice and get a sweet flavor from the pineapple combined with the crispness of the carbonation.
I am going to give the product a mixed review.
On the positive side this drink is exactly what it says it is and I appreciate that it uses real pineapple juice instead of artificial flavorings.
On the flip side, I enjoyed the first couple of cans but then got a little burned out on the pineapple flavor. It would be nice if Costco sold a variety pack of flavors from Spindrift. A variety pack (Grapefruit, Cucumber, etc) would prevent burnout on a single flavor and let me see which suits my taste the best.
Price
The 24 count of 12 ounce cans of Spindrift water cost me $12.69 at Costco which works out to a price of $0.59 per can.
I saw that you can buy an 8 pack of these cans at Target for $5.99 which works out to a cost of $0.75 per can.
This means that you will save $0.16 per can (21%) when you buy this water at Costco.
While the Spindrift water is a nice deal at Costco you could save a little money and get a variety pack of really interesting flavors if you buy the Waterloo Sparkling Water which currently costs less than $0.40 per can.
