Taste Test!
I am a fan of the Waterloo flavors that come in the 24 count Costco pack.
In general, the flavors match up with the labelling. My favorite flavor is Strawberry as it seems more rounded and I love the brightness.
I think the packaging and label design are attractive and I enjoy having the cans in my refrigerator.
Better Than Kirkland?
I used to buy Kirkland Signature Sparkling Water but I am now buying Waterloo instead.
I like the Waterloo better for a couple of reasons:
- Easier Package Size
- Better Flavors
- Even Selection
Easier Package Size
The Waterloo water comes in a 24 pack compared to the 35 pack of Kirkland water.
The 35 pack of Kirkland water is heavy to load into the shopping cart and is awkward to handle when I get it home.
It might seem simple but dealing with the smaller package of Waterloo water is one of those things that my sore shoulder thanks me for.
Better Flavors
Kirkland water comes in Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit. I really like the Grapefruit flavor but the Lemon and Lime are a bit “one note”.
Waterloo combines the lemon and lime to provide a more balanced and interesting flavor than the stand alone flavors from Kirkland.
The Black Cherry is pretty tasty as well and makes the flavor profile of the 24 pack more interesting in general.
Even Selection
This might come across as trivial but something that bugs me about Kirkland’s sparkling water is how many cans of each flavor are contained in the case.
My favorite flavor of Kirkland water is Grapefruit but you only get 10 cans of that flavor in the 35 pack. The balance of the case is 10 cans of Lemon and 15 cans of Lime.
The Lime is okay but I would rather have 15 cans of Grapefruit instead of 15 cans of Lime.
At least with Waterloo you get an even distribution of all three flavors.
Costco Value
Costco has the 24 pack of Waterloo water priced at $7.99 which coms out to a cost of $0.333 per can.
You can buy an 8 pack of Black Cherry Waterloo Sparkling Water at Target for $3.99 which works out to a cost of $0.498 per can.
This means you can save $0.165 per can (33%) when you purchase the 24 pack at Costco.
Yea but it has “natural flavors”
