If you are looking for a nice standing desk then you ought to check out the Tresanti 47″ Adjustable Height Desk at Costco. This Sit Stand desk is highly functional, a great value and I think it looks fantastic!
Let me walk you through some of the key features of this desk and look at some real customer reviews to see if this is the right desk for you.
Costco’s Standing Desk is a Value
Let’s start with the price tag for this desk.
This desk is selling for $219 at local Costco and I found the exact same desk for sale on Amazon for $500. This means that if you can find this desk in stock at your local Costco you will save 50% over the Amazon price!
Costco’s online price, with delivery included, is $250 which is a pretty good deal as well!
You could buy this desk along with Costco’s Lazy Boy Office Chair and have a completely new home office for under $500.
Key Features of Tresanti’s Adjustable Height Desk
The desk has several nice features including a tempered glass top and a sliding partitioned drawer. The glass top is compatible with dry erase markers so you can actually take notes and jot down ideas directly onto your desk instead of wasting paper.
The desk has the following dimensions:
- Width: 47.5 inches
- Desktop Length: 22 inches, 21.5 at the middle of the curve
- Desktop Thickness: 2.75 inches
- Height (Lowest Setting): 29.5 inches
- Height (Highest Setting): 46.5 inches
- Bottom Leg Length: 25.5 inches
The bottom right corner of the desk top is where all of the action is.
On the surface of the desk are six buttons and a wireless charging station. The six buttons, from Left to Right, are:
- Up: Raises the Desk Height
- Down: Lowers the Desk Height
- Get Active Timer: Reminder to Stand
- H1: First Programable Desk Height
- H2: Second Programable Desk Height
- H3: Third Programable Desk Height
The Get Active Timer is a simple timer that, when pressed, which will remind you to take a break after two hours.
On the side of the table there is one USB port and two USB-C ports for device charging along with a lock button.
The lock button locks the height of the table. Apparently this is super handy because the height control buttons are very sensitive and will change the height when you accidently brush them with your hand or when your cat walks on the table.
Customer Reviews of the Tresanti Standing Desk at Costco
I wanted to see what actual customers thought about this desk so I pulled the reviews from Costco’s website.
There were over 4,000 reviews so this looks like a pretty popular desk! The desk is not only popular but it also appears to be well liked with 89% of reviewers leaving either a 5 of 4 Star review.
The negative reviews fell into two main categories:
- Broken
- Design
Broken Components
There were two main points of failure identified in the reviews.
The primary issue was from people who ordered the desk online. A BUNCH of people received desks where the glass top shattered into hundreds of pieces during shipment. There were enough complaints that I do not think I would ever buy this online. I would only buy this if my local Costco had them in stock and I could make sure the box wasn’t damaged.
A secondary failure mode appears to be with the motor. A few folks received desks where the motor was simply broken. Quite a few more people received desks where the motor died after a few weeks.
Design Issues
The two issues I saw about the design are about the supportive cross bar underneath the desk and the glass top.
A few folks dislike the design and described the cross bar as a “shin buster”. On the flip side, I read a couple of reviews from people who liked the cross bar and used it as a foot rest.
The interesting issue that was identified with the glass surface is that a computer mouse will not work on it. Apparently you need to use a mouse pad.
Overall this looks to be a highly functional, sleekly designed desk at a nice price point that people really like!
