We Really Like Rojo’s Six Layer Dip with Black Beans and Cotija Cheese from Costco

Costco is selling a six layer dip with black beans and cotija cheese from Rojo’s and it is great item to whip out of the refrigerator for a football party.

There is enough of the dip to feed a crowd and it is a tasty alternative, or compliment, to stand alone bowls of salsa and guacamole.

Keep reading and let’s see if this dip is right for your next party.

Six Layer Dip Nutrition

Ingredient List

The dip has the following layers:

  • Black Beans
  • Avocados
  • Salsa
  • Creamy Salsa
  • Seasoned Sour Cream
  • Cheddar and Cotija Cheese

The dip is gluten free.

Call me a cynic but I think having two layers of salsa is a bit of a cheat and that this is more like a five layer dip 🙂

Serving Instructions

Serving the dip is incredibly easy.

  • Store the dip in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Remove the lid and plastic covering.
  • Serve

I would not try to transfer the dip to another bowl to pretty up the presentation as you are likely to get everything mixed up and will lose the layers.

Taste!

We had six people at our small get together.  Five of them loved the dip and one person said that they did not like the dip because one of the layers “tasted funny”.

Despite the one person who abstained, we destroyed this dip!

The dip was cool and creamy with a delightful array of flavors.  There was absolutely nothing spicy about the salsa so kids should enjoy this as much as the grown ups.

The black beans provided some nice body and texture to the dip while the crumbled cotija cheese was a nice contrast to the shreds of cheddar.

Six Layer Dip on a Tortilla Chip

We mainly used Costco tortilla chips for dipping and that worked great but things got a little out of hand when we started dunking the crispy mini-tacos into the mix!

I really enjoyed this dip and will be buying it again.

Costco Value

The 44 ounce package of dip cost me $8.99 at Costco which works out to a cost of $0.204 per ounce.

You can get a 28 ounce package of Rojo’s 5 Layer Dip at Walmart for $5.12 which works out to a cost of $0.183 per ounce.

This is one of the few times that I have found that you can save a little money by purchasing a product at Walmart instead of Costco.
