Heating Instruction
You can enjoy these pastries right out of the package and no one would blame you if you did.
In fact, many people enjoy these pastries cold rather than hot.
Personally I think the pastries are delicious cold and simply divine when heated!
I put the pastry into my Ninja Foodi Air Fryer and heat the at 350F for five minutes. This is long enough to heat the filling all the way through and bring out the flakey, buttery layers of the pastry.
If you don’t want to use your air fryer then the pastry is also great when heated in a toaster oven. Please don’t heat the pastry in the microwave as that will collapse the layers in the pastry.
This time and temperature combination will also put a slight char onto the glaze which I enjoy but some people may not. If you want to avoid the char then either drop the time down to three minutes or heat the pastry at 325F for 7 minutes.
Taste Test!
The cherry and cheese pastries are fantastic!
The pastry itself is rich, buttery and has the flaky layers of a classic croissant. The filling is a wonderfully paired combination of sweet and savory that play amazingly well together.
I was afraid the cherry filling was going to overwhelm the pastry with sweetness. Instead, the sweet cherries balance the richness of the cream cheese and Greek yogurt to give you one perfect bite after another.
These pastries are so well balanced that it is easy to devour a whole one in just a few minutes. This is in stark contrast with Costco’s Ham and Cheese Pastry that is so rich that you are forced to stop eating once you are halfway through.
Storing the Pastry
These pastries are shelf stable and do not need to be refrigerated. That being said, if you leave them out on the counter they will start to mold after a few days.
If you plan on enjoying these over the course of a week then keep them refrigerator.
If you plan on enjoying then slowly, like over the course of a month, then stick them in the freezer and pull them out as needed.
Price at Costco
These pastries are Item Number 1655334 and are found in the bakery with the other non-refrigerated Danishes.
You get six Danishes per pack for a price of $9.99. This works out to a cost of $1.66 per pastry and they are worth every penny!
