We have a pack of dogs and a couple cats running around in our house and it seems like we are ALWAYS dealing with animal fur in some shape or form. We had the opportunity to pick up the Neakasa P2 Pro Pet Grooming Vacuum Kit and I was excited to see if it would make our lives easier.
After playing around with the unit for a few weeks I am happy to say that the unit works great and is going to save us quite a bit of money in pet grooming fees!
Neakasa Grooming Kit Contents
The kit is essentially a 2 liter vacuum chamber that comes with a flexible hose and five attachments. The five attachments are:
- Grooming Brush
- Deshedding Tool
- Clippers (with five length guards)
- Clothes/Furniture Cleaner
- Vacuum Wand
The suction to the unit has three power levels that are controlled by the front mounted knob.
The unit is well designed and has holders for all of the attachments on the base.
When we first started using the unit I was confused why you would need the three different vacuum power settings. I mean, you always want Full Power, right?
It turns out that the lower vacuum settings are quite handy to help your dog get used to the noise of the system. The full power mode isn’t extremely loud but was loud enough to spook one of my pups the first time I tried using the system with her.
After dialing down the noise I was able to get her used to the grooming system. I found for most of the grooming applications that the full power is not really needed. Full power is great for when I am using the cleaning attachments.
The Most Used Grooming Attachments
One of the things I appreciate about this unit is the variety of grooming attachments.
I use the DeShedding Tool for our Golden Retriever and it does a great job of removing all of the loose, shaggy hair. It took me a minute to realize that you need to press the “Clean” lever on the back of the attachment after every few strokes. Pressing the “Clean” lever pushes the captured hair out of the brush and into the vacuum tube.
Our other two dogs, a Golden Doodle and a Wheaten Terrier Mix, do not shed and need to be clipped instead.
The clippers that come with the unit work great and come with five different length guards so you can get the perfect clip for your dog. Please note that the vacuum power must be turned on for the clippers to have power.
The clippers come with a set of five different guards for different cutting lengths:
- 3 mm
- 6 mm
- 12 mm
- 18 mm
- 24 mm
The clippers come in handy for touching up our Golden Doodles hair under her chin so she doesn’t get it soaked in the water bowl.
There are two cleaning attachments that I enjoy as well. The first is an oval shaped bristle brush which is great for getting dog hair off my shirt and off of the sofa cushions. The second is a simple extension that is great for getting in between and underneath the sofa cushions where a bunch of hair always ends up!
The vacuum system, which comes with an integrated HEPA filter, is easy to detach. Dumping all of the dog hair and cat fur into the trash is incredibly simple which makes cleaning up the mess a breeze!
Overall Impressions
I really like the Neakasa dog grooming kit and appreciate the fact that it has attachments for dogs that shed and dogs that don’t.
This unit will not completely eliminate trips to the dog groomers for our pets but will extend the time between visits. It is also nice to have to ability to do some touch up work on the spots that our groomer misses 🙂
