We bought the Kirkland Breaded Panko Shrimp from Costco and cooked them up in our air fryer! The panko shrimp was better than what you would get at most restaurants but we had some mixed opinions on the meal.
We are split at my house on the amount of panko breading. I thought the breading was a bit excessive and overwhelmed the shrimp but everyone else said that they were perfect.
Keep scrolling and I’ll show you everything you need to decide if the Kirkland Panko Shrimp are right for you.
Heating Instructions
Costco provides cooking instructions for three types of ovens (Conventional, Convection, Commercial Convection). The preferred method is in a Conventional Oven as follows:
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Arrange the frozen shrimp on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 10 minutes on the middle rack.
- Flip the shrimp and bake for another 8 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let stand for 2 minutes.
- Place the cooked shrimp on paper towels for 1 minute.
- Remove the paper towels and serve.
The shrimp should be cooked from frozen.
I didn’t feel like heating up the big oven so I cooked these in our Ninja Foodie Air Fryer using the “Bake” function.
The settings I used were:
- Temperature: 410F
- Time: 18 minutes
The shrimp came out perfectly browned and crispy!

Notes
Taste
The breaded shrimp had all of the right elements but was slightly off in terms of texture.
The butterflied shrimp tasted clean and slightly sweet. The texture of the shrimp was firm and slightly overcooked but was perfectly fine.
The panko breading was delightfully browned and produced a satisfying crunch.
I served the shrimp with a Sweet Thai Chili sauce and it was a perfect combination.
The complaint I have with the product is that, for most of the shrimp, the amount of breading was excessive. I’ve got a picture of a cross section of the breaded shrimp below so you can judge for yourself but to my eyes it looks like there is a lot more breading than there is shrimp.
For a couple of the shrimp all I could taste was the breading and, while the breading is lovely, it certainly should not overwhelm the shrimp.
In general I liked the taste of all of the elements of the breaded shrimp. I am going to save the rest of the box and serve them up as appetizers the next time we have a football party.

Price
The Kirkland Signature Panko Butterfly Shrimp is Item Number 1233570 and can be found in the freezer section of the warehouse alongside the other frozen seafood products.
I bought the 2.5 pound box of shrimp for $18.99 which works out to a cost of $7.60 per pound which seems reasonable.
