The last time that I was at Costco I bought the fully cooked Kirkland Oven Browned Turkey Breast and am really pleased with the purchase. We were in the mood for something other than chicken and were looking for some form of lean protein that I could use for fast and easy dinners.
Stick with me and we will cover the pros and cons of this roast and look at some other options for pre-sliced turkey breasts.
This breast costs $4.59 per pound and comes in different sizes. The one I bought weighed 2.37 pounds and cost $10.88.
How to Serve
The Kirkland Oven Browned Turkey Breast is fully cooked and ready to eat. This is a boneless, skinless breast which makes slicing and serving a breeze.
I was intrigued to see that the back of the packaging had slicing instructions. Apparently you slice the meat Left to Right, the “short way”, when you want to make sandwiches and Top to Bottom, the “long way”, when you want to serve slices as an entrée.
Heating Instructions
If you want to serve this roast as an entrée then Costco suggests heating it up in a shallow pan with water for an hour in a 350F oven. Slice the meat after heating instead of before to prevent it from drying out.
Taste Test!
The roasted turkey breast is slightly salty but otherwise unseasoned. Overall this is a relatively bland piece of turkey.
I have been using slices of the turkey as an easy protein to go with Mediterranean Salads. It is also pretty good when diced up and added to an omelet made with Kirkland egg whites.
The roast is a nice thing to have in the refrigerator for when I get the 3:00 p.m. hunger pains and I want a filling, low calorie snack. It’s easy to open the fridge, carve off a slice and get about my day.
Overall the turkey breast tastes exactly like it should.
