We recently bought a dog bed at Costco and I am happy to report that I am very pleased with the purchase. There were three or four dog beds to choose from but we went with the 2 in 1 Bolster Bed.
We have two large dogs, a Golden Retriever and a Golden Doodle, and they both approve of the purchase! The two dogs don’t use the bed at the same time but include it in their sleeping locations as the alternate between the sofa, the bean bag and sleeping in my bed between me and my wife.
Key Features
The 2 in 1 pet bed has several features that make it a nice product.
The bed has dimensions of 32×42 inches which makes it roomy enough for our dogs. The bed is easy to move thanks to a built in handle, looks attractive and comes with a removable center pillow.
We leave the removable center pillow in the bed but you can take it out and use it as:
- A pillow inside your dog’s crate
- A travel pillow in your car
- A second pillow for another dog
The bed is well constructed and has an abundance of zippered compartments to let you take everything apart if the bed needs to be cleaned. You can take out the memory foam in the pillow, the bolsters in the main bed, etc.
The design is a nice balance between being solidly built and being easy to disassemble.
What We Like
What I love about the bed is that our sweet Golden Doodle loves sleeping in the bed. She weighs a little over 80 pounds and has plenty of room to stretch out and get comfy.
She used to try to sleep with us in our bed but she was just too big. Before I always felt bad when I pushed her out of our bed but now I just giggle and tell her to go sleep in her own bed 🙂
Of course, the true test of a good dog bed is how much the dogs actually use it.
For about a week our Golden Doodle and Golden Retriever would take turns trying to get into the bed first.
Once our cat figured out there was something that two dogs wanted he decided that he needed the bed all to himself. Our cat is a jerk.
So, our cat gets the bed for naps during the day and our Doodle gets it at night when our cat goes out to catch frogs. Our cat is strange.
Costco Value
The Kirkland Signature 2 in 1 Bolster Bed cost us $49.99 at Costco and that feels like a pretty fair price. I know that there are cheaper beds online but I appreciate that you can put your hands on the ones at Costco to see if they are going to work for you.
This bed is built solidly enough that I fully expect it to last a few years.
Other Options to Consider
There were two other Kirkland dog beds at our warehouse and, while they both looked acceptable, we decided against them. Both of the other options were cushioned with polyester fill instead of the Memory Foam pillow on the bed we bought.
The first option was the Sloped Couch Dog Bed for $39.99. This bed is smaller than the one we bought and does not have the removable center pillow.
The main reason we passed on this bed was that we were not sure if it was going to be big enough for our large dogs.
The second other option was the round pillowtop orthopedic bed for $79.
This bed would certainly be large enough for our dogs but we didn’t care for the styling. Also, the bed we bought was plenty large enough and cost $30 less than this one.
