Costco has started selling their own brand of water boiled bagels and I was excited to give them a try. Apparently boiling the bagel is the trick to getting them to be nice and chewy on the inside while staying crunchy when toasted.
I have only tried a couple of the flavors offered but so far I am liking these bagels just fine!
Let’s get started!
Price
You can buy a dozen bagels at Costco for $7.99 which works out to a cost 0f $0.67 per bagel.
What I enjoy is that the bagels come in sleeves of six so you can either double up on your favorite flavor or try six of one flavor and six of another. I suspect the ability to split flavors will make many households happy!
The price of these bagels is extremely fair given both the size and quality of the product.
Flavor Options
Costco offers the following flavors of bagels:
- Plain
- Sesame Seeds
- Everything (Onion, Poppy Seed, Sesame Seed, Garlic, Caraway Seed)
- Cinnamon and Raisin
- Parmesan
My store had every flavor except Parmesan in stock.
Taste
There is a lot of debate about whether these bagels are any good or not but I am happy to report that I like them a lot.
I got on Reddit to read reviews and kept seeing things like:
- These aren’t real New York bagels.
- You can find better at your local bagel shop.
- No true bagel lover would eat these.
I gotta be honest and tell you that most of these complaints came from folks who just sounded like they wanted to hate on the product to sound important.
I absolutely love toasting these bagels, smothering them in cream cheese and enjoying the crunchy exterior and chewy interior.
My favorite combination is the Everything Bagel with cream cheese and my second favorite is the Cinnamon Raisin bagel with melted butter and strawberry preserves.
You can also use these bagels to make a wonderful ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich.
