Try the Kirkland Sliced Roast Beef at Costco with this Amazing Sandwich Idea!

My inner carnivore demanded that I buy a package of Kirkland Sliced Roast Beef on my last shopping trip to Costco.  I was surprised that I had never bought this product before as one of my favorite guilty pleasures is devouring massive roast beef sandwiches with a side of potato chips and a kosher dill pickle.

This is item number 36275 and it is found in the refrigerated section near the deli.

This is the same roast beef that Costco uses in the Meat and Cheese Party Platter on their catering menu.

Taste Test

The short version is that the sliced roast beef tastes really good 🙂

The beef is sliced super thin which makes it extremely tender.  You can tell by the picture below that the beef almost wants to fall apart in some places.

The roast beef is made from USDA Choice grade meat which means it has a decent amount of marbling without being overly fatty.

The product appears to be cooked to Medium as it still has a slightly pink color.  This is in contrast to Kirkland’s Canned Roast Beef which is Well Done.

The meat has a lot of moisture and tastes quite “beefy”.  There is a coating of seasoning around the outside that is savory without being overpowering.

World’s Best Three Ingredient Roast Beef Sandwich

When I was at Costco I got a little giddy thinking about making this sandwich as I went around buying the ingredients.

You are going to need to buy:

I used the Jalapeno and Artichoke dip because I wanted a little spicy kick.  If you aren’t into spicy foods then go with the Spinach Artichoke Dip.

Start by slicing the bread in half and toasting.

After the bread has toasted spread at LEAST a tablespoon of the Artichoke dip onto each side of the roll.

Pile 3-4 ounces of sliced roast beef onto the spread.

Put the sandwich together and dig in!

There are so many layers of flavor in this sandwich that it is simply insane.  Try this some day and you will thank me.

Two ounces are a single serving and have the following calories and nutritional information:

The roast beef is labeled as Gluten Free.

This is some of the healthiest lunch meat that I have come across.  Normally I try to stay away from sliced deli meats as they are overly processed and full of salt and nitrites.  However this roast beef is very low sodium and has not been cured with nitrites/nitrates.

The only negative aspect of the meat is that it has been pumped with some phosphates.  The phosphates help the product stay moist and are not particularly bad but they are an added chemical.

Costco Value

Costco is selling the Kirkland Sliced Roast Beef for $8.99 per pound.

The amount of meat varies between packages.  The package I bought weighed 1.33 pound and cost $11.96.

I really appreciate the package size and this is unusual for a Costco item.  A package size of 1.3 pounds is entirely reasonable for one person to eat over a week before it goes bad.

Given the quality of the meat and the convenience of the packaging I think this is a great deal.
