Heating Instructions

The heating instructions for the sandwich are incredibly simple but that didn’t stop me from screwing them up!

  • Pre-heat your oven to 375F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the sandwich on the parchment paper.
  • Loosely cover the sandwich with aluminum foil.
  • Place in the oven and bake at 375 for 30 minutes.

I didn’t have any parchment paper so I lined my baking tray with aluminum foil instead.  It turns out that a LOT of the melted cheese will stick to the foil and makes it hard to remove the sandwich.  Lesson learned.

If you have to use aluminum foil to line the baking sheet then I suggest spraying it with some cooking oil before you add the sandwich to help with release.

Taste Test

The Costco Meatball Sub is the definition of meaty, cheesy and delicious!  The meatballs are well seasoned and the overflowing cheese was simply ridiculous.

The ciabatta roll is a touch of genius as the top was tender while the bottom took on a delightful contrasting crunch.

The marinara was an excellent dipping sauce and I appreciated having the cool, bright refreshing flavors that paired so well with the sandwich.

None of the individual components were amazing but together they formed a masterpiece of a sandwich!

A word of caution…the meatballs are made from Beef and Pork.  If you are someone who does not eat pork then you will need to skip this sandwich.

Cost

My Costco Meatball Sub weighed in at 2.41 pounds and had a total cost of $14.44.

I saw some folks on Facebook complaining about the cost since you can get a foot long sub at Subway for around $8.  I think anyone who compares this sandwich to a Subway sub has to be off their rocker 🙂

There is enough food with this sandwich (2.41 pounds for the one I bought) that I can easily get three satisfying meals.  This works out to a cost of $4.81 per meal which suits me just fine.
