Your Ultimate Costco Charcuterie Board Shopping List!

Here is a great Costco charcuterie board shopping list to help make sure your spread is Instagram worthy!

A well-curated charcuterie board includes a delightful assortment of items to please any palate.  There are no hard and fast rules about what should be on a charcuterie board.  That being said, there are nine primary ingredients that people usually choose from.

Here is a list of the typical things that people include on their charcuterie boards that you can find at Costco!

Cured Meats

Cured meats are the centerpiece of a charcuterie board, offering a range of flavors from the smoky richness of prosciutto to the spicy kick of chorizo. Salami, with its robust and savory taste, is a popular choice that pairs well with various accompaniments. These meats add depth and variety, making them essential for any charcuterie spread.

My favorite Costco selection for the meats is the package of Antipasto Italiano from Veroni.  The Antipasto contains slices of smoked prosciutto, dry cured pork shoulder and both mild and spicy salami.

Flavorful Cheeses

Flavorful cheeses bring a creamy and rich element to the charcuterie board, with options like Brie providing a smooth, buttery texture. Gouda offers a slightly sweet, nutty flavor, while aged Cheddar delivers a sharp, tangy bite. These cheeses create a balanced and luxurious experience when paired with other board items.

Costco usually has a fantastic selection of cheeses and you can certainly choose whatever flavor strikes your fancy.  My choice is usually the three pack of Boursin flavored cheese spreads.  This cheese has a cream cheese type texture and very approachable but interesting flavors.

Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruit adds a burst of color and natural sweetness to the charcuterie board, complementing the savory meats and cheeses. Grapes, apples slices, figs, and berries are popular choices that not only taste great but also provide a refreshing contrast. These fruits enhance the overall presentation and flavor profile of the board.

Again, go with your favorite fruit and look for something fresh and in season.  My go-to is usually Cosmic Crisp apples but seedless grapes are also an excellent choice.

Olives

Olives are a classic addition to any charcuterie board, offering a salty and tangy flavor that pairs well with both meats and cheeses. Varieties like Kalamata, Castelvetrano, and stuffed green olives provide a range of tastes and textures. Their briny bite adds complexity and depth to the board.

I personally prefer Kalamata olives but I can’t always find them at Costco.  When I can’t find Kalamatas these organic Castelvetrano olives are perfectly fine substitutes.

Jams and Spreads

Jams and spreads introduce a sweet and sometimes spicy element to the charcuterie board, perfect for pairing with cheeses and meats. Fig jam, honey, and mustard are popular choices that enhance the flavors of the other components. These spreads offer versatility and a touch of indulgence.

One of the great things about Costco is they often have some unique, flavor packed sauces like this Mango & Hatch Chile Pepper Sauce.  These are great for a delightful Sweet Heat flavor profile that really wakes up the other flavors on the board.

Bread/Crackers

Bread and crackers serve as the perfect vehicles for enjoying the various elements of a charcuterie board. Options like crusty baguettes, artisanal crackers, and flatbreads provide different textures and flavors. They add a satisfying crunch and are essential for creating delicious combinations.

Costco has delicious, crusty baguettes in their bakery which are my favorite choice.  They also have a fine selection of crackers if you would rather go that route.

Nuts

Nuts bring a crunchy texture and earthy flavor to the charcuterie board, complementing the softness of cheeses and the richness of meats. Almonds, walnuts, and pistachios are popular choices that offer both flavor and visual appeal. They add a wholesome and hearty element to the spread.

My go to choice at Costco is the bag of Salted Mixed Nuts.  The bag is a great value and includes a wonderful assortment of nuts including cashews, almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts and Macadamia nuts.

Sweets

Sweets add a delightful finishing touch to the charcuterie board, balancing the savory components with a touch of indulgence. Chocolate, candied nuts, and dried fruits like apricots or cranberries provide a sweet contrast. These treats make the board feel complete and satisfy any lingering cravings for dessert.

These candied papaya spears can easily be diced into bite sized chunks of chewy sweetness!

Service Trays

You should also swing by the Home Goods section of the warehouse and see what types of serving trays Costco has for sale.

Sometimes they will have formal charcuterie boards available or something really neat like this Lazy Susan with a chalkboard edge.  A fun part of making a charcuterie board is having fun with the presentation so you might as well make it on something pretty!

Take a Short Cut!

Sometimes you can take a short cut and pick up a pre-made Meat, Fruit and Cheese Tray from the Costco deli counter.  This will give you a great head start on your board as you will now just need to get some olives, bread and something a little sweet.

Of course, some folks are perfectly fine using just the contents of the tray as a mini-charcuterie board and that is perfectly fine as well!
