This Chicken Pad Thai is Delicious

The Chicken Pad Thai from Saffron Road is an absolute delight and is a product that I will happily buy again.

This frozen meal is not as good as the freshly prepared Pad Thai we get for a decadent take out meal but it is an acceptable substitute at a fraction of the cost.

I will be having this for a quick and flavorful lunch on a regular basis.


Plenty of sauce.

Plenty of chicken.

Great Pad Thai flavor.



The Saffron Road Chicken Pad Thai, found in the freezer section of my local Albertson’s grocery store, is another interesting Asian inspired meal that I had to try.

This product got me excited since we eat a lot of takeout Pad Thai at our house and a tasty frozen meal would be a quicker, and more economical, option.

Pad Thai features rice noodles and a protein coated in a creamy peanut sauce with a bit of lime and a kick of heat.  A great Pad Thai is a culinary delight and I was excited to see how the Saffron Road product turned out.

Nutrition Facts

You get one tray of chicken Pad Thai per package and that tray is a single serving.  The nutrition facts for a container are:

  • Calories: 430
  • Fat: 11g (14% DV)
  • Cholesterol: 25mg (8% DV)
  • Sodium: 650mg (28% DV)
  • Carbohydrates: 64g (23% DV)
  • Protein: 19g

From a nutrition standpoint the dish is pretty healthy considering that it is processed meal.  The meal offers a nice balance of carbohydrates and protein while being reasonably low in fat and sodium.

Heating and Serving the Pad Thai

Heating Instructions

The heating instructions for this product are:

  • Remove the tray from the box.
  • Peel back one corner of the plastic film covering the tray to vent.
  • Microwave on High for four minutes.
  • Peel back the plastic film and stir the meat and sauce into the rice.
  • Replace the film and microwave for one minute.
  • Let the meal stand for 1-2 minutes and serve.

How Does Saffron Road’s Chicken Pad Thai Taste?

I have had mixed results with Saffron Road products.  Their Chana Masala is amazing but their Chicken Biryani is just mediocre.  Given that track record I was nervous about the quality of their Pad Thai.

It turns out that the Saffron Road Chicken Pad Thai is absolutely wonderful!

Their was plenty of rich, creamy peanut sauce to coat all of the rice noodles.  The tender carrot shreds added a delightful textural contrast to soft noodles.  There was more than enough chicken to make me happy.

This product is labelled as “Medium” heat and I could definitely feel a little heat in the back of my throat while I was wolfing this down.  There was just enough heat to make the dish interesting but not enough to scare anyone who is sensitive to spicy foods.

The Pad Thai was delicious and I enjoyed every single bite.

I am heading back to the store soon and will stock up on this product.  I loved it!
